Historically, Rotary has achieved
its objective of "Service Above Self" through activities in four primary areas
which are referred to as the Four Avenues of Service. These
are "Club Service," "Vocational Service," "Community Service," and
"International Service."
Community Service - this relates to the
activities that Rotarians undertake to improve the quality of life in their own
community. Particular emphasis is given to helping children, needy families,
the aged, the handicapped, and those most in need of assistance.
Rotarians promote the ideal of service in their personal, business, and
community lives.
Glenville
Rotary supports many community groups and organizations through out the year.
Each holiday season we offer support to "Holiday Families", we work with
residents at Northeast Parent & Child Society, and participate in ongoing
projects.
Ronald
McDonald House
The Club provides a meal once
a month to the residents of the Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House is
a non-profit that provides a residential setting for families of critically ill
children at no charge to the families.
Glenville Rotarians donate their time and join one of six club 'teams'. Each
team plans, prepares, and delivers meals once a month two times a year.
There is nothing to compare to the feeling one gets when you walk into the house
and see the smiles and look of gratitude from the family members who are staying
at the house.
Adopt A
Highway
The Rotary Club of Glenville has "adopted" a four mile stretch along Route 50 in
Glenville.

The club
members participate twice a year walking and cleaning up both sides of Route 50
stretching from the Worden Road intersection by the Schenectady County Airport
north to the East Glenville Community Church, just past Price Chopper.
